The Difference Between Maintenance and Mowing
Many property owners in Northeast Ithaca, NY assume that mowing is lawn maintenance. In reality, mowing is only one component of a complete lawn maintenance program. True turf maintenance is an ongoing, proactive management process that addresses the biological needs of the grass plant at every stage of the growing season. It involves monitoring soil conditions, managing nutrient levels, controlling competitive weeds before they establish, correcting compaction that restricts root development, and identifying disease or insect pressure before it causes widespread damage. Kelly Landscaping's maintenance programs in Northeast Ithaca, NY are built on this comprehensive understanding of turf management.
Our year-round maintenance schedule is structured around the natural growth cycles of the grass species growing on your property. In early spring, we focus on pre-emergent applications that prevent crabgrass and other annual weeds from germinating, paired with a starter fertilization round that supports the flush of growth that follows winter dormancy. Through the summer months, we maintain consistent mowing schedules, monitor moisture stress, and apply targeted treatments for any pest or disease issues that emerge. Fall is our most intensive treatment period, incorporating aeration, overseeding, and late-season fertilization that builds root reserves for winter survival.
Every maintenance program we manage in Northeast Ithaca, NY is assigned to a specific account manager who is responsible for monitoring results and communicating proactively with the client. If we observe a developing issue during a scheduled visit, your account manager contacts you with an assessment and recommendation before the next scheduled visit, not after the problem has worsened. This proactive communication model is one of the most frequently cited reasons our maintenance clients stay with Kelly Landscaping for years.
